At Guildford station we have upgraded the existing two-tier racks to our Easylift+ two-tier system! The old racks were becoming worn and difficult to use and were not gas-assisted so South West Trains opted for a more user-friendly system to replace them.
The old racks at the station were breaking off and becoming a potential hazard to users trying to store their bikes. The long yellow back wheel cradles were also becoming a hazard as they would get in the way when the cycle storage space was busy with users.
The old racks also didn’t have a bottom deck, instead a toast rack supplied 10 spaces for bikes which meant securing the bikes was difficult, not very secure and caused overcrowding and damage to bikes. The replacement Easylift+ bottom tier has 10 individual troughs for each bike so they are kept separate and stored neatly for maximum ease of loading and locking.
Overall we replaced 140 old two-tier spaces and replaced them with 176 Easylift+ spaces! We have also installed a bike repair stand and bike pump at Guildford station.
