Cyclepods have just completed a refurbish and revitalise cycle storage project at Swindon Academy. The Academy contacted Cyclepods looking for advice on how to revive their current cycle shelters and increase much needed cycle storage.
We conducted a site survey at the Academy and passed the findings to our internal Design team for them consider all possible options to maximise cycle storage but in a solution that was in keeping with the style and environment of the school.
Our solution was to use Harrogate shelters to replace the current shelters, the cantilever design combined with powder coating to the school’s signature blue created a stylish and premium look to sit at the front of the school. Cyclepods won the contract based on our speed of response, customer service and the highest number of cycle parking spaces proposed.
Four Harrogate shelters were used in total, one at the front of the school to replace the old shelter but using the existing toast racks to give 26 cycle parking spaces. The other three bespoke shelters with new toast racks were installed at the back of the school, replacing the old shelters and racks and increasing the number of spaces from 40 to 90 spaces.
All groundworks and installation were completed in just four days during the school holidays in order to cause the least disruption to the everyday running of the school. All old metalwork from existing and shelters and racks were disposed of sustainably by Cyclepods as part of the service.
Swindon Academy are delighted with the result and the ease of service from Cyclepods from site visit to completed project.
