Cyclepods are proud to present Lewes Cycle Hub, which we designed and built from the ground up!
Our full solution for Lewes Station Cycle Hub meant we designed and built the bespoke steel and glass hub itself, liaising with planning authorities, providing full project management and all groundwork’s and construction, and furnished the Hub with 100 Easylift+ two-tier bike spaces and state of the art access & cycle storage technology.
We were involved with every step of the process and have just completed the new 100 space Cycle Hub, which is fully equipped with Access Technology, Security Lighting, CCTV and Repair Facilities to provide a complete package Cycle Hub.
Lewes Station is in a conservation area and so the Cycle Hub build required liaising with the planning authorities to ensure the hub was in keeping with the environment. Site constraints also played a part. It was necessary to keep clear of Network Rail infrastructure, still allow waste disposal lorries to access the site and minimise the number of car parking spaces that were to be used.
The result is a bespoke, modular construction which will increase cycle parking at the station to 100 spaces with the loss of just 9 car parking spaces
The building has been designed to allow for extending the Hub should the volume of cyclists to the station increase. It is also the next Southern Rail Cycle Hub to have access technology using Southern’s ‘The Key’ travelcard.
Lewes Cycle Hub will officially be open for use on June 5th.
