The Department for Transport have released their guidance on the second tranche of the Emergency Active Travel Funding, which you can find here.
This states that Local Authorities have until Friday 7th August to apply for the next wave of funding for cycling and walking investment, to “allow cycling in particular to replace journeys previously made by public transport, and will have an essential role to play in the short term in helping avoid overcrowding on public transport systems” as we start travelling after the lockdown.
It’s also important to note that this tranche of funding is also for longer term cycling and walking investment to “help deliver significant health, environmental and congestion benefits”. Important issues that we were all working hard to combat before the pandemic and must not lose sight of!
The document we have linked to contains more information on how Local Authorities can bid for funding, including the link to the online bid proforma which can also be found here – https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/EmergencyActiveTravel_tranche2proforma/
We have been advising and assisting several Local Authorities and other organisations in their bids for funding and would be happy to help you should you need anything.
